  Rajeshahi Soda Shop

Bubbly, sweet, refreshing and best of all — priced at Rs 5. This soda shop takes you by surprise not only for its unbelievable rates but also for its range of flavours. Just two months old, this place has no seating arrangements, so one has to stand and sip the soda.

Nonetheless, this does not take away from the taste and quality they maintain. Open till around 10.30 pm, this soda pub gets their raw material all the way from Wagholi. The Fruit Beer flavour here is worth a try — though the name may excite some, nothing except the colour resembles the alcholic beverage — it is basically apple-flavoured syrup in soda.

If apple is not your flavour, opt for their Kala Khatta soda, which reminds one of a tempting gola, though less messy and more tasty.

Location: Gokhale Nagar
Price: Rs 5

  Iceberg Fresh

A warm smile, and a gentle man in a clean apron welcomes you to this small shop. Adjacent to the well-known Roopali restaurant, this outlet serves fresh ice cream made right in front of you. The latest to enter their menu are flavoured sodas. Limiting it to just three flavours to maintain quality, the store offers Fruit Beer, Masala and Orange flavours.

One of the few stores in the city to serve freshly-prepared ice cream, this place hits all the right buttons when it comes to their soda machine maker too. The drink gets it just right with sweetness, frothiness and colness.

Their Tangy Orange soda is the one to order here. Priced reasonably, this is a good option on a hot summer afternoon. While there, make sure you don’t miss out on their donuts and fresh fruit shakes!

Location: FC Road
Price: Rs 10/ glass

  Amar Soda Shop

Imagine some lovely chocolate in a tall glass filled with ice and topped with sweetened carbonated water. Tempting? That’s what you get here! Open only after 5pm, this soda centre is a huge hit in Camp. Choose from Mango, Green Apple, Blueberry and Litchi flavours here.

The pleasant Blueberry soda does not let one down. This place also serves juices in the same flavours without soda. Plus, you can order any juice of your choice — Butterscotch, Mosambi or Pineapple — and ask them to spike it with soda, creating a flavour of your own.

The machine takes around 20-25 minutes to create the drink. Some regulars opine that their Jaljeera and Blueberry soda simply steal the show.

Location: 665, Taboot Street, Camp
Price: Rs 10/ glass

  SP Soda Shop

Here, you can quench your thirst for just Rs 10 with a variety of flavoured sodas. Owner Brijesh Patel first thought of starting a soda store in Pune after sampling drinks from a few flavoured ones in Gujarat, when he realised the city lacks soda stations to provide relief during hot summers.

Chomp on some spicy chaat while ordering a chilled glass of soda, available in Mango, Lime, Blueberry and Litchi. The soda here contains added flavours and is light. Made in-house in their soda-machine maker, raw material is outsourced from a company in the city.

With mango being the flavour of this season, their Mango soda comes pretty close to devouring the fresh fruit trapped in a bubbly avatar! Also famous for its kulfi, the owner assures us that one visit is not enough to sample their delicacies.

Location: Opposite SP College, Sadashiv Peth
Price: Rs 10/ glass

  Godrej Nature’s Basket

For those who are finicky about places matching their hygiene standards, here’s an option for some refreshing ‘packaged’ flavoured soda. The Schweppes cream soda here is flavoured with vanilla and prepared in sodium bicarbonate, water, sugar, egg whites, wheat flour.

Flavours range from Lemon and Pineapple to others. Light and sparkling, this will bring in a burst of energy right from the first sip. Cream soda is a pretty great welcome drink at parties or an on-the-go alternative to boring canned juices and soft drinks.

Cream soda has different monikers in different parts of the world — in Japan it is served as ice cream, in Australia ‘creaming soda’ and in South Africa it’s called a ‘green ambulance’, a superb toner for a bad hangover.

Location: Aundh
Price: Rs 65/ can
