Tony Blair and Chilcot inquiry

Posted On Sunday, January 23, 2011 at 02:09:33 AM

Tony Blair

• Tony Blair came to the Iraq inquiry with last year’s game plan. Answer questions on his terms. Talk about the big picture, keep it subjective and off the specifics. He may think he did this well. Until he put his foot in his mouth. The panel did not need to pin Blair down on anything. It has the evidence and can draw its own conclusions. Blair had a “final opportunity” to answer their questions and disprove their implications. Could Blair point to a cabinet discussion of the leaked war papers? He could not. So how did Blair expect the cabinet to take an informed view? Blair waffled further, disputing “the notion that people weren’t debating and discussing the issue”. The cabinet knew what the policy was.

•  He did not kill those servicemen. They signed up to do the country’s bidding and if they had gone into Baghdad, kicked butt and not had a single casualty, he would have been a hero. Even Cameron has not brought back a single soldier. I disliked the reason the UK went to war, not because it was wrong, but because they applied a dual standard. Just Saddam being bad was no reason for an invasion. If it were, then Mugabe would be looking down on Zimbabwe from the top of a pole. If you didn’t Blair’s war policy, then you should have voted him out. Or at the very least not voted someone in who would perpetuate that policy. Clearly, ending the war in Afghanistan — which is just an extension of Iraq — was not on the Tory agenda, but the country voted them in. It then follows this is the will of the country. The Army et al are not a democracy.

•  Tony Blair, like Brown and the current Prime Minister, are all puppets to the criminal banker elite. They wouldn’t have been chosen otherwise. They want nothing less than total control by Oligarchs ruling everything and everyone, reducing the masses to zombies and serfs.

•  Blair went to war trying to say it would have been worse if he had not talked Bush down. Oh yeah, nothing said then about Blair making a fortune out of it. American oil companies are now taking oil out of Iraq by the tanker to ensure they get profits from this war, what we get is a millionaire prime minister, who left power before the war ended, to ensure he got his pot of money from the Americans. It’s so sad that in 2011 we still have people that will go to war to make a fortune out of it. I know I’m picking on the Labour party again. But sadly, you have to say what choice do we have...?
