Priyanka Chopra is going through an emotionally challenging time. Her father Dr Ashok Chopra, who had been diagnosed with cancer, has not been keeping well at all.
Mirror has learnt that he is now in a suburban hospital where doctors are monitoring his condition round the clock.
But just when one expects the actress to crumble under pressure, she has been putting up a brave front, zipping from one film set to another media event.
Unfortunately for PeeCee, she has also been embroiled in several controversies off and on the screen. In fact, at the launch of her music video, hecklers managed to get the better of her, even if for a moment.
But PeeCee bounced back. Minutes after the launch, a troubled Priyanka spoke about her travails for the first time. “It has not been an easy time for me…running from work to hospital and then back to work," she said, battling a surge of emotions. “Ït is very difficult for anybody to see his/her parent so unwell. I only pray that my father gets strength to get better.”
Ever since her father took unwell, the Chopra household has had to cope with tremendous stress. "Thank God for the support system which I have in the form of my mother and my tauji and chachaji who keep taking turns to come down to Mumbai from Delhi and Ambala,” she said. “It's not easy for them either but they have stood by me in my dad's illness, thick and thin.”
Thanks to her relatives who have rallied around her, Priyanka says she has been able to keep all her professional commitments. And she does have quite a handful and more. Besides shooting for Zanjeer 2.0, Krrish 3, Gunday and her preparatory work for Mary Kom, PeeCee has been taking her musical career rather seriously.
Speaking about the solo that she released, Priyanka happily detailed: “I have worn jhumkas, brocades, nathni and have incorporated a bit of Indian dance moves.
I wanted to let the world know through my music what Indian pop culture is all about. We shot the video in the US” Asked how she was juggling her personal and professional responsibilities in her moment of crisis, Priyanka replied, “Ï am a girl of commitment. I am a girl of my word. And I shall remain so. That’s what Dad has always taught me.”
