Rs 6 lakh grabbed from 70-yr-old in Lulla Nagar

A senior citizen was brutally attacked by a monkey-cap wearing man and his accomplice in Lulla Nagar on Thursday evening.

The assailants, who attacked 70-year-old Mehboob Momin with a sharp-edge weapons, snatched from him a bag containing Rs 6 lakh and vanished.

Momin, who is a resident of Sayyad Nagar in Hadapsar, has lodged a First Information Report on Thursday at Wanowadi police station against two unidentified persons who came on a motorbike.

Momin, who is a watchman in a petrol pump in  Rajguru Nagar in Khed,  was carrying the weekly collection from his employer for depositing in a bank in Pune.

Ajit Khadake, Inspector (Crime), who is investigating the case said, “For the last four decades Momin has been working as a watchman at Satish Mutha petrol pump at Rajguru Nagar in Khed.

On Thursday, around 11.20 am, Momin collected Rs 6 lakh from the manager of the petrol pump and left for Pune. Momin reached Swargate at 6.45 in the evening, where he took a share rickshaw toward Lulla Nagar.

When he was about to enter the gate of Sindh Housing Society an undientified person came and attacked him and tried to snatch the bag forcefully.

As he resisted, the attacker took a sharp-edged weapon and slashed his hand and head. Meanwhile, another unidentified person joined the assailant. As Momin clung on to the bag, the assailants started stabbing him.

They finally snatched the bag  from Momin, who was writhing in pain, and fled away towards Golibar Chowk.” Inspector Sunil Pawar of Crime Unit IV said, “The attacker migh have been following Momin.”
