The Market Yard police booked one Ramesh Gandhi and 14 others for allegedly preparing fake documents of a piece of land worth Rs 46.25 lakh. The land belongs to Sushila Sambhaji Naik alias Sushila Chandrakant Kapadnis (40), a resident of Prabhat Road.
Kapadnis had gone to the United States of America after submitting her complaint regarding the forgery to the Market Yard police station, but her complaint was not registered.
A while after Kapadnis reached the USA, the police contacted her. Kapadnis then wrote her complaint application via email to the police station and the complaint was finally registered.
According to the complaint, the suspects prepared fake documents of the land admeasuring 52 gunthas in the office of the Haveli Sub registrar located at Market Yard. The suspects allegedly prepared the fake documents sometime on June 24.
Police said that to avoid delays in registering the complaint, they had urged Kapadnis to submit her complaint through email. The complainant was in the city and had submitted all the documents to the police before going abroad.
