Crime branch officials located the bicycle shop from where two of the three bicycles used in the blasts on JM Road were purchased. Two of the bicycles were bought on Wednesday morning and the third possibly stolen.

All the three new bicycles (two red and one black) have been seized. All three had a basket in front in which the explosives were placed.

Police said bicycles were purchased from Sony Cycle Trading Company, owned by Sunil and Sujit Deshmukh on Ganesh Road. The Crime Branch seized the receipt book and other evidence and questioned the brothers, who told police that three men walked into their shop and asked for bicycles.

The men said they would pay for the cycles in cash and did so. They asked for baskets to be fixed on the front of the bicycles and paid for the same in cash.

The trio remained in the shop for 20 minutes and th eshop owners gave a description of the men to the ATS and city crime branch officers — a vital clue.

Based on this, the city police started preparing sketches of the suspects. The owners said two suspects spoke in Gujarati and their Hindi was strongly influenced by Gujarati.
