Co2 may re-open after licences are procured
The Chatushrungi police has come down heavily on a pub, Co2, which was functioning illegally on the Baner - Pashan link road. The owners have been debarred from re-opening the hotel unless they secure valid licences from the concerned departments.

The action was part of a week-long drive initiated by the police. Pub owner Hitesh Balkrishna Godavle, justified the police action and said he held no grudges against the cops as he did not have any valid licence. “I will reopen the pub after getting the permissions,’ Godavle said.

Senior police inspector Ajay Kadam of Chatushrungi police station told Mirror that the action was initiated under a prohibition drive and it was found that the hotel staff was serving liquor to customers without having valid licences from the State Excise Department and other authorities.

The hotel was also found to be operating after the 11.30 pm deadline. “After this, we decided to take serious action,” he said.

The drive was initiated by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) Shahji Umap. In all, the police have filed 128 cases against drunk drivers, hotels breaching deadlines and others. A city court had fined all those found to be driving drunk as well as hotel owners Rs 2,000 per head.
