The hospital authorities decorated the ward with balloons and ribbons which brought a smile to the face of the otherwise calm and composed Devang. Presenting a perfect birthday gift to the boy, who aspires to become a computer engineer, his parents gifted Devang a computer, while the principal of Erin Nagarwala School, where Devang studies in Class V, brought him a toy car.

His happiness was doubled when a classmate gifted him a hand-made card. Expressing his happiness, Devang said, “I am waiting to be discharged soon. I want to play games and startattending school to meet my friends.”

Dr Sumeet Saxena, Plastic Surgeon at Jehangir Hospital, said, “We hope he recovers quickly. He is doing well and needs to come for dressing and physiotherapy only. The wound will take nearly two months to heal completely and he will be able to adapt to prosthesis limb.

We wish him best of luck.” Highlight the importance of family support Saxena said, “His family should send him to school as soon as possible. This will help him get over the tragedy and recover fast.

They should also support him in overcoming the mental trauma. He will be discharged on Thursday ” Devang, a resident of Tingrenagar, was admitted to the hospital with abroken arm after it was caught in the lift.

He was trying to rescue a cat when the lift started functioning. Though he underwent a revascularisation surgery at Jehangir Hospital the same day to re-implant his injured arm, the surgery failed after a few days and his arm had to be amputated.
