In a bid to introduce schoolkids to traffic discipline, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vishwas Pandhare has proposed to include formal lessons on the topic in school curriculum. Welcoming the initiative, the School Board has joined hands with Pandhare to incorporate traffic education modules in schools.

Pandhare said, “The school curriculum does not include any formal lessons on traffic. This needs to be rectified and students need to be given some training with regards to traffic sense.”

A decision about structuring the contents on traffic education and training the school teachers has been taken jointly by the School Board and Pandhare.

Pandhare added, “Teachers will be trained on topics like road safety, traffic signals, using the zebra crossing, parking, etc through workshops and we would encourage them to impart this training not just by use of books but also through media.”
