Gehna Vashisht after being granted bail on Sunday
A holiday court on Sunday granted bail to model and actor Gehna Vashisht, who was arrested by Deccan Gymkhana police station, for allegedly dishonouring the Indian National Flag by using it as a bikini for a photo shoot.

A team of policemen from Deccan Gymkhana police station arrested Gehna after visiting her Oshiwara home on Saturday. She was brought to Pune and was kept in the Faraskhana lockup for a night. Gehna alias Vandana Ravindra Tiwari (24) was produced before a city court and the court granted her magisterial custody after which Gehna applied for bail and court granted it.

Police demanded a four-day police custody, stating that Gehna, in some interviews, had admitted that she had used the tricolour as a bikini. Police officials said they want to seize the tricolour which was used during the photo shoot, search her house and then trace the photographer who conducted the shoot. Police also want to trace the person who uploaded the photographs on the website.

Gehna’s counsel advocate Shrikant Shivade opposed the grant of police custody, stating that the offence is bailable. Shivade also maintained that the photograph which has been uploaded on the website is morphed and police must verify the facts.

Ravindra Bramhe, national secretary of Lok Janashakti Party and a resident of Ganeshkhind, had lodged a complaint in this regard with the Deccan Gymkhana police station on July 16.
