A dance when they're happy

The Malayali Federation let Pune sample a slice of Keralite culture on on Sunday evening at the Pune Festival. Around 19 different dances from the state were presented, one among which was the Oppana (L) which is performed by women from the ethnic Keralite Muslim community.

The dance is performed at any happy occasion by women between the ages of 20 and 24. Among the other dances that were showcased were Mohiniattam, Margamakali an old group dance performed by Syrian Christians and Tri Vadila Kali — a dance by Hindu women in rural Kerala
