Freakin' Awesome! Freakin' Awesome! Freakin' Awesome! Freakin' Awesome! Freakin' Awesome!

I am a strict vegetarian and of the belief that we humans are not meant to eat meat. Our bodies are not compatible to digest meat or anything else apart from vegetables.

If you are fond of non-veg, then god bless you! But I believe if you can eat meat, then you can also eat everyone around you. I have strong opinions about non-vegetarian food and don’t mind discussing it openly.

When it comes to comfort food, it has to be oatmeal at breakfast to kickstart my day. Being a south Indian it is obvious that ‘idli and dosa’ will be on the list too. Nothing can beat a plate of dosa with  gunpowder chutney and a little coconut oil. I am a fan of  dosas prepared in kadhais. These tiny dosas are crisp and instantly take me back to my days in Kerala, when my granny made them.

She was so good at it that the aroma would bring us from even a mile away! Another favourite is the  dosa made with dal, mirchi and rice. There is another dish which is even better than a dosa —  aadhai. It is made in almost every south Indian home  and is not easily available in restaurants.

When it comes to restaurants that serve food that comfort me, then Banana Leaf in Mumbai and Sarvana Bhavan in Chennai are a few of my favourite places. I always wanted to open a south Indian place where I can serve aadhai and dosas the way my mother made them.

I am sure it will be a hit but  financial constraints have stopped me from doing so. Also, if anyone wishes to  try out the above dishes, you are free to call me!
