Rocksmith isn’t your typical music game in fact I wouldn’t even call it a game, instead it is a fun way to learn the guitar. This of course means you need a guitar to play the game which is one of the major drawbacks. A decent electric guitar costs upwards of Rs 6,500. However, if you really want to learn, you can borrow an electric and buy the game.
Don’t be fooled by the online videos of this game. Learning an instrument takes dedication and patience, but in the end it’s a more satisfying experience than a high score in Guitar Hero.
It begins with teaching you how to hold your guitar and plectrum and then proceeds to tuning the guitar. Once tuned, Rocksmith introduces you to its first song, which is I can’t get no satisfaction by The Rolling Stones.
You start off with single notes and an explanation of how to play, from there it automatically updates the difficulty, making it harder to play by throwing in more notes as you get better. This is a brilliant way to learn and is useful even if you know how to play.
There are over 50 songs to master and you can buy and download even more online. The game also has several arcade style practice games like a chord-based zombie shooter and a note-based hunting game. You unlock the games and songs as you progress.
We would totally recommend this game to anyone planning to learn the guitar. But if you want another fake guitar game, look elsewhere.
