Chelsea Clinton’s beautiful Vera Wang wedding gown has wowed fashionistas around the globe. Bangalore designer Michelle Salins, who specializes in wedding gowns, tells us what is in vogue for this season.
When Chlesea said ‘I do’ to Mark Mezvinsky on Saturday night at a tucked away luxury estate in Rhineback, conducting the ceremony was a reverend and a rabbi.
Being the Clintons, the ‘wedding of the millenium’ that reportedly cost between three to five milliion dollars, was all so politically correct. Of course, there was no shortage of celebrities and glamour.
But what caught everyone’s eye was Chlesea’s specially designed Vera Wang wedding gown. A whole lot of celebrity weddings are bound to take a cue from it. Here are a few tips.
White no more White wedding gowns are being replaced with a whole lot of colours, from ivory shades in silks and duchess satin. Some brides are more adventurous, trying on their favourite colours like red, aubergine, and blue among others. Some opt for pastel pinks.
Sexy is in Sexy silhouettes and figure hugging gowns are here to stay and will be around next season too.
Frills matter Embellishments are also very ‘in’ at the moment. Heavily embroidered gowns are a big favourite amongst celebrity brides and are often encrusted in crystal and diamantes.
Dos and don’ts ►If you have a tall, slim figure, opt for a fitted silhouette. But do get the right underwear for it! Remember all eyes are always on the bride. ►If you a broad hips or heavy on the thighs, opt for a ball gown style that sits on low on the waist and has a gathered or pleated torso pattern. ►Try to bring in your waist the most you can without having the feeling of discomfort. ►Show off your shoulders if you have a nice collar bone. If slightly chubby, you can glitter the shoulders and let your veil drape over. It will give it a very sensuous look. ►Empire waist lines or high waist lines used with flowly fabrics can set a trend. Don’t allow it to fall loosely on you. This style would work if you have small busts and can be pleated on the top with embellishment on the high waistline. ►Always check your inner wear as you must understand that your inner wear compliments the fit of your bridal gown
