At Filmfare, while stars competed to hold the lady in black, the ladies on the red carpet vied for paparazzi attention. Like every year, Bollywood divas tried to grab eyeballs with their stylised gowns and designer ensembles while walking down to the venue.
Dia Mirza: Dia kept the sari season alive with a simple white, black and golden drape worn with a black 60’s style blouse.
Deepika Padukon: Dippy too chose to stick to the nine yards. With a tight top bun and daring to bare her RK tattooed nape, Dippy looked pretty. However, the sari was a little too last season Vidya Balan: No longer trying for an ‘image makeover’, Vidya Balan decided to create her own style statement. Vidya draped herself in a green silk sari. The bare neck, big jhumkas and a green bindi accentuated her ensemble.
Asin Thottumkal: She chose to wear a gown over the more popular sari. But the print of her dress would have looked striking on a pillowcase. As a single shoulder long gown, the fabric failed miserably. Priyanka Chopra: Priyanka left her short glittery dresses behind for a clean Angelina Jolie-ish ensemble on the red carpet. With her hair pinned on the top of her head, the Jungli Billi looked tame and sophisticated.
Usha Uthup: She won for the first time in 42 years. Wearing a sari, gold jewellery, the ‘K’ bindi and gajra she looked happy. Mahie Gill: She managed to grab a lot of eyeballs. And not for a very good reason. In a backless blue black gown, Mahie proved just how much weight she had to gain for her role in RGV’s controversial film.
Amy Jackson: Even calendar model Amy Jackson stuck to an Indian ensemble for the evening choosing to wear a white and beige lehenga choli Karishma & Kareena Kapoor: The Kapoor sisters kept it simple yet sexy with sari worn with shoulder less blouses. Pic: Satish Malavade and Nilesh wairkar |
