The article, accused Kumar of securing a residential site by flouting rules
Karnataka’s law minister Suresh Kumar submitted his resignation to chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda, following a story in Mirror’s Bangalore edition  on Saturday.

The article, accused Kumar of securing a residential site in violation of rules. After meeting the chief minister, Kumar called up Mirror. “After reading the article, I felt I should not continue in office. I am hurt by the allegations,” he told Mirror.

The chief minister has, however, refused to accept his resignation saying he accept it only if he finds wrongdoing.

Later, Kumar told reporters that he was hurt by the allegation that he lied to get a ‘G’ category site from the CM’s quota. He insisted he had not lied in the affidavit submitted to avail the site.

RTI activist S Bhaskaran, who exposed Suresh Kumar’s illegal possession of land, rubbished the argument. “Suresh Kumar got a ‘G’ category site from the CM when he said he his family house was taken away for road-widening. The same house was returned to him after the work was done, but he didn’t return the site,” said Bhaskaran, adding that Kumar called him after reading the newspaper and “took sarcastic digs for going to a newspaper”.
