Chandigarh: Anuradha Bali alias Fiza, the estranged second wife of former Haryana deputy chief minister Chander Mohan, was on Monday found dead under mysterious circumstances at her house in Mohali. Police said 39-year-old Fiza may have died four-five days back.
The body of the former assistant advocate general of Haryana was found in her bedroom in a highly decomposed state, Deputy Superintendent of Police D S Mann told reporters.

“She may have died four to five days back,” he said. Mann said that preliminary investigations did not point to any scuffle in the room and the cause of the death could be ascertained only after the post-mortem report. “At this stage nothing can be stated on whether it is a case of suicide,” Mann said. No suicide note has so far been recovered, Mohali SSP G S Bhullar said.
The police opened the house after neighbours reported foul smell coming from there. Bali hogged the limelight after her marriage to Chander Mohan in 2008 when he was the deputy chief minister of Haryana.
However, Chander Mohan was disowned by his father and former chief minister Bhajan Lal. Having remained incommuni cado for several days, the couple had resurfaced after embracing Islam and Bali changing her name to Fiza and Chander Mohan to Chand Mohammed.
Relations later soured between the two and Fiza had attempted suicide last year. Sources said that she was planning to join BSP. Chander Mohan had recently buried his differences with his younger brother Kuldeep Bishnoi and joined the HJC headed by the latter.
Fiza and Chand's 'nikaah' was solemnised by a maulvi (Muslim priest) in Meerut in November, 2008. The marriage lasted hardly 40 days. On Sunday, another Haryana politician, Gopal Kanda, resigned after he was named in a suicide note left behind by a woman named Geetika Sharma who killed herself in Delhi.
SAhe blamed the politician, who was minister of state for home in the Congress government, for harassment. Sharma had worked for MDLR, an airline owned by Kanda.
The Congress has asked CM Bhupinder Hooda to conduct an inquiry and submit a report on the case to its central leadership.
