Man with bag full of arms held at Batman screening at Ohio theater

Police found more weapons and ammo when they raided Scott Smith’s home
A man with a bag full of weapons was arrested at a screening of the latest Batman movie in Westlake, Ohio, US authorities said on Wednesday.

According to the police, an off-duty officer arrested Scott Smith, 37, on Saturday night at a local cinema after he was found to be in possession of a bag containing a loaded Glock pistol, two extra fully-loaded magazines and three knives.

Smith was the only person in the theater at the time. Police also raided his home to find “numerous weapons and ammunition”. The incident was reminiscent of the Aurora massacre on July 20 when twelve people were killed and 58 others wounded by a gunman who opened fire during a midnight premiere of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’. Prosecutors are due to review the case to decide how to charge Smith, who hails from North Ridgeville, Ohio, in the American Midwest.

Last month US police in the state of Maryland, near Washington, arrested another man and seized an arsenal of weapons after he threatened his employer and raised fears he was inspired by the Colorado shooting.
