Amey Wagh likes his vacations conventional. A day off for him, is all about catching up on some beauty sleep, relishing a hearty lunch, going swimming and hanging out with his buddies.

Home sweet home: A theatre artiste’s schedule is quite disorganised, we don’t really have a ‘daily routine’ per say. In fact, when it comes to weekends, we usually are on stage, performing a play, essaying some bizarre character, while the rest of the world is chilling out at home with family and friends!

I keep shuffling between Pune and Mumbai over the week. So my idea of a day off is whenever I’m in good ol’ Pune. A day spent in Pune is a day well-lived! You cannot take a break in Mumbai even if you want to, as even a short outing there demands a long travel!

Lunch hour: On my day off, I make it a point to get a good night’s sleep — sound, cosy and uninterrupted. My day usually starts pretty late when I’m home, and by the time I get ready, it’s lunchtime! I prefer to have a nice, homely lunch with my family. I’m my mother’s favourite subject to experiment on and she usually tries out some new recipes whenever I’m home.

Filmy maza: I have a huge collection of films on my laptop. I make sure that I watch one on a holiday, snuggled up on the couch, if I don’t doze off after the heavy lunch, that is! Later in the afternoon, I try to catch up with my exercise - something I cannot manage to carry out during my otherwise erratic schedule. An hour at the Tilak Tank is an indispensible part of my workout routine. It’s only been a year since I learnt swimming but I’m hooked to it.

In good ‘Company’: We generally stage plays in the evenings. But if by any stroke of luck, I’m free, then I map out the evening in advance. Hanging out with my friends from Natak Company at Roopali over a delicious Mysore Cheese Sada Dosa and a filter coffee is a must.

Time flies when we discuss our future endeavours and plan our shows. I like to conclude my day on an artistic note, so I check out some new play at Balgandharva or Yashwantrao Chavan auditorium — my alma alter!
