In France the World Music Day is called Fete de la Musique, celebrated on June 21, annually. The air is filled with festivity as artistes give back in kind through music. To replicate this festive spirit, Alliance Francaise and Max Mueller Bhavan have organised Fete de la Musique with a French band Nojazz.
Fete de la Musique is an annual event that is being observed by the two organisations for quite some time. ble rhythms, words, modalities and melodies from around the world.
The band was started in 2000 when five musicians who were proud of their respective experiences but determined to explore new musical territories decided to get together. Besides, students of Alliance Francaise and Max Mueller Bhavan will put up performances for the first part of the evening.
You will also get to watch a local dhol group Ramanbaug Yuva Manch perform. However, the main act of the festival will be Nojazz. Catch the concert at Kala Chhaya Cultural Centre, Patrakar Nagar Road today at 6 pm.
“The idea is to take music to the people and give amateur musicians a chance to showcase their talents,” says Luc Didon, director of Alliance Francaise, Pune. For the first time, an international band Nojazz will be performing in the one-day event.
