It was a pleasure working with Sridevi. When I first asked her to be my showstopper, that too just two days before the couture show, she happily agreed.
Be it the clothes, the look, the timing, everything was smooth sailing with her. She wanted to arrive earlier to check out the ramp, like a thorough professional.
Not only did she look ravishing, she walked with the aplomb and style that befits a superstar. Her grace and elegance did full justice to my couture jewellry collection.
When I went visited her residence for a fittings session, she showed me her paintings. She had done a fabulous one of Sonam Kapoor for the film Saawariya.
“I paint at night when everybody goes to sleep,” she revealed. She should definitely publicise her work and talent, I prompted her.
Unfortunately, at the couture week, I could not be there for many shows. However, I did get myself together and go for the last day. Monisha Jaisingh is undoubtedly one of my favourite designers. Her show spelt couture fashion in its pure form, and her clothes were the drama.
Her signature embroidery and embellishment on the ensembles were carefully positioned to complete the picture. My favourite were the Whites. Usually publicity shy, it was good to see her strut the ramp with the models.
Off the ramp, Sheetal, in a mix of Valentino and Versace, and Anu Dewan in Chanel looked impeccable.
Karan Johar did not fail to deliver every bit of what was expected of him. The men’s fashion on the ramp, which Karan and Varun Bahl put together, was eclectic and chic.
The young Bollywood blood, Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor opened the show looking good and fit well into the zippered leather jackets. The ruffles on the waistcoat peeping out of the jacket and the double lapelled shirt shown on the ramp were interesting.
Most of the trousers were cut slim and narrow, and studs were seen on the shoes. Dino looked cute and paraded his glittery shorts proudly.
Badshah Khan walked on as the crowd cheered and I could see women melt. The show stealer however, was Gauri Khan. She looked stunning and perfect on the ramp showing off taut legs.
I noticed no flinching or hesitation on the ramp. Quite the model. Karan not only delivered drama but did not neglect the fashion quotient either.
AD Singh had an after-party at Olive. We went early as I was exhausted with everything that keeps going on in this wonderful festive season. I wanted to go home, sleep and be fresh for Diwali. I wish readers a wonderful year with Goddess Lakshmi’s blessings.
