Thousands of engineering aspirants are awaiting the state level CET results with bated breath. To help them choose a suitable engineering stream, a city-based professor has launched a website, in collaboration with an entrepreneur.

“In the last 10 years, I have observed that most engineering aspirants and their parents are confused and unaware of the available options. Therefore, students need proper guidance,” said Prof Vijay Navle, Training and Placement Officer at A G Awte Engineering College. He, along with Mahesh Narke, founder M-power — an info-media centre, have created the website www.go2engineering.com.

“The blind trend of running after a few popular branches is resulting in an imbalance in the manpower available for various branches. The website aims at informing students about the scope and opportunities available in more than thirty different streams of engineering.”

Students blindly opt for computer and IT branch without analysing their strengths and weakness. Narke said, “Looking at the market situation, where job openings are scanty, there is a need to explore new avenues.”

The website also provides information about the admission process through Maharashtra Common Entrance Test (MH-CET). It has also listed last year’s cut-off marks for various branches, so that the students can weigh their options.

Special tools like college selection and branch selection are aimed at helping students make up their mind while filling up the forms.
