City cops on high alert
After a threat mail to Intelligence Bureau warned of an attack on Jewish places

Over 80 cops including special forces have been deployed at sensitive areas to check terrorist activities. Inspector Suhas Nadgauda of Bund Garden police station said, “Some terrorist organisations have sent a mail to the central intelligence agencies. In that, they mention that Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) is planning to attack Jewish religious places in Pune. So, we have made tight security arrangements at the Ohel David Synagogue (Lal Deval) on Ambedkar Road in Camp and the Chabad House at Koregaon Park. “To avoid any unwanted calamities, security has been tightened in several parts of the city, especially in these areas which mostly come under our jurisdiction. We have set up two checkpoints one on North Main Road and the other on South Main Road. We are regularly checking vehicles in the area and scrutinizing anything suspicious. Heavy vehicles have been banned completely,” Nadgauda added. To avoid a repetition of 26/11, a large number of armed police personnel have been deployed. The force which includes an inspector, four sub-inspectors, 60 policemen from the commissionerate, five policemen from the special branch and two from the special task force will keep a tab on the area constantly. |
