Blue-blooded MP, in a speech indirectly aimed at Ajit Pawar, accused the ‘senior leaders’ of NCP of internally supporting rebels. He blamed this kind of ‘backstabbing politics’ for NCP’s dismal performance in the assembly polls

Problems for the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) aren’t over just yet! Udayanraje Bhosale, the 13th direct descendent of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and a present Member of Parliament, has once again criticised Ajit Pawar.

Without naming the city’s guardian minister, Bhosale made obvious references to him and attacked ‘senior party leaders’ for engaging in the politics of ‘backstabbing’ and thus contributing to the NCP’s defeat.

He said that these leaders internally supported rebel candidates in the polls. Bhosale, on Thursday demanded strict action against these ‘backstabbers’.

Three authorised NCP candidates lost the election and rebels won seats. An angry Bhosale then directed these comments against Ajit Pawar, but did not take his name. He also raised some serious questions over the way the party was functioning.

“The party should appoint a disciplinary committee to take action against such leaders, while no attempts should be made to take support from rebels,” Bhosale said in Pune.

While he did not name any party leader, he made quite a few hints that it was Ajit Pawar he was attacking.

Pawar has managed to gain the support of rebels. Bhosale said that the party should appoint him as the chief of the disciplinary committee so that stern action can be taken.

“Without support from official party leaders, as many as 22 rebels would not have been elected,” said Bhosale, hinting that it because of these senior leaders, that the party is undergoing an internal crisis in the race for the post of deputy chief minister.

Bhosale empathised with some of the defeated NCP leaders. He wants them to be properly rehabilitated in the partyfold. “I am going to talk to these defeated leaders and will take them to the party leadership to be rehabilitated.” he said.

Last September, Udayanraje issued a statement which read, “With assembly elections around the corner, every political party is promising heaven to the public. But, none of them care to explain the method of this implementation."

"I have an actual programme for development. I do not follow double standards. I will implement this programme with public support.”

This statement was followed by some comments from Udayanraje who then went on record to say that he did not know any Dada. Since then, he has constantly been speaking out against the NCP.
