After the success of first PHP meet in city a year and a half ago, the event is set to return. The unconference, a metaphor for discussion over technical aspects and avenues, could not take place in city due to the H1N1 flu threat. The last edition of the PHP users camp was held in the city on September 20, 2008.

The meet, the first in the city as well as in India, was received enthusiastically by techies as over 700 attendees made their presence felt.

It became the second biggest unconference in India at that time. During September 2009, the city was gripped by fear thanks to the H1N1 threat so the conference did not take place. The event now will take place on January 9.

The PHP camp is on the lines of Barcamps which have become popular meets in technology circles. PHP is a general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for web application development.

Last time, the sponsors for the event included companies like Persistent Systems, PuneIT Labs, Cogent Technosoft and Synergy.

This time around, big names like Adobe, Microsoft, Linux For You and Xento Systems are pitching in.  The meet will take place at the Symbiosis Center for Distance Learning (SCDL) from 9 am to  5 pm.

What is PHPCamp?
PHPCamp is an unconference where anyone can come and participate. This is similar in concept to barcamp but it is focused towards PHP developers.

This is a platform for PHP developers to share their knowledge with each other. PHPCamp is as much fun as you can make it.

Why Attend?
A PHP developer can meet hundreds of other developers and talk to them about problems and share knowledge. You can show off what you're working on, and generally leave your mark on the weekend and fellow developers.
