I had started my blog for Mark, our society dog. It was very likely that he would have been poisoned or killed by intolerant society members if we hadn’t fought for him. Through my blog I have bonded across cities. Though I haven’t met many of the people I am in touch with through the blog yet this common cause has made us form an alliance of sorts. Through my blog, a number of pups and kittens have found their loving families to take care of them. I also try and find homes for abandoned pets and adult dogs as they too deserve a chance at love — Aparajita Kumar Sayani

For most of us, a blog is useful to share our views, thoughts and feelings with others. The blog which this story talks about, though, is different. ‘Helping Homeless Animals’ is a blog started by Aparajita Kumar Sayani which aims to help homeless animals.

No doubt, there are a lot of organisations which work for the welfare of dogs and help them get adopted in to good homes but with her blog, Aparajita has taken the initiative to help abused, abandoned, sick and needy animals.

Her blog is a platform for all those people who wish to share any information and to help pets find safe homes. Pune Mirror spoke to Aparajita Kumar about her blog and what inspired her to start such an unique blog.

“I still remember the first time when I rescued a baby parrot. I was a kid then and I recall bawling endlessly when it didn’t survive. It’s tough trying to put head above hear when it comes to animals in pain.

I just can’t bear to see any helpless creature in pain and every incident of thoughtlessness and cruelty further strengthens my resolve to keep on working for them.”

For Aparajita, the blog has been a wonderful tool for spreading her message and getting in touch with like minded individuals. “I had started my blog for Mark, our society dog.

It was very likely that he would have been poisoned or killed by intolerant society members if we hadn’t fought for him. Through my blog I have bonded across cities.

Though I haven’t met many of the people I am in touch with through the blog yet this common cause has made us form an alliance of sorts.”

She added, “Through my blog, a number of pups and kittens have found their loving families to take care of them. I also try and find homes for abandoned pets and adult dogs as they too deserve a chance at love.”

She said, “Over the years, I have rescued a plethora of creatures, right from a pig whose pelvis was fractured when a van struck her, to a huge horned bull whose stomach was literally eaten away by maggots!

Since, hospitalisation was out of the question I would follow him daily to give him his daily dose of medicine and cleaning his wounds for close to three months.”

Aparajita went on to add, “It is a great pleasure to come across many Puneites quietly doing their bit for animal welfare. Many of them help by getting stray dogs sterilised to combat overpopulation in a humane manner.

I would request responsible citizens to educate others, and especially children not to be afraid or aggressive towards animals. All they need is food, shelter, and love and they are yours for life.”

She added, “It is my dream that one day in the future, every dog and cat will have a home and doesn't have to lead a harsh, miserable existence, abandoned on the streets. If my little initiative bears fruit I can rest happy.”
