After news that University of Pune’s official website was hacked by Muslim hackers spread like wildfire on Monday, it was revealed that UoP’s official site was unharmed and that the affected site was operated by Delhi-based boys.

University officials took action and registered a complaint with the cyber crime branch. Students who opened a website with address
www.pune-university.in got a message that, ‘Your site has been hacked by muslim hackers’.

UoP’s official site is:
www.unipune.ernet.in. Some news channels also started playing news about the hacking. UoP’s acting vice chancellor Dr Arun Adsool told Pune Mirror, “The news misled students as our official website was not hacked.

The site is safe, along with all the data related to it.” He added, “We received an email from an alert citizen advocate Sachin Patwardhan on Monday afternoon about the hacking of the website.

We conducted checks and found that our official website was not hacked. Within 15 minutes, our IT system found that some Delhi-based boy Arjun was operating the hacked site along with his aide Sadhu.”

Dr Adsool said, “We have filed a complaint with cyber crime branch.”
