Cold november

The city registered a low of 7.9 degrees Celsius on Monday which is 6.4 degrees Celsius lower than the to normal minimum temperature of the city. This is an all-time low for Pune in November. The cold wave began on Friday.

The Indian Metrological Department (IMD) said that the sudden noticeable drop was mainly due to the strengthening of the northerly winds in the region.

Normally, IMD declares cold wave conditions when the temperature is 4 to 5 degrees Celsius below the normal mark. If it goes down to more than 5 degrees Celsius below normal, a severe cold wave is declared
