Power supply to Wanowrie, Divya Nagar, AFMC Quarters, Wanowrie Bazaar and Salunke Vihar was cut off from 1 am to 10 am on Tuesday after a mentally-disturbed man climbed up a tree on the premises of the Wanowrie Bazaar Police Chowky. It took more than eight hours for city fire brigade officials to persuade the man to climb down. Power supply was restored to the area by 11 am. The man who climbed up the tree was identified as 33-year-old Chandraprakash Kol. Senior Police Inspector Bajirao Mohite of Wanowrie Police Station said that Kol and his brother had come to Pune Railway Station late on Monday night. Both stayed at the railway station, but Kol left the station. ► It was a sleepless night. We called the authorities who told us that power had been shut in the area due to an emergency - Shakuntala Raikar, Resident, Wanowrie village
