Rashid Rauf

JeM Brit terrorist may be behind pak attacks
A British terrorist, who features in Britain and America’s most-wanted list, is believed to be the mastermind behind the recent terrorist attacks that have killed hundreds in Pakistan.

Birmingham-born Rashid Rauf (in pic above), a chief recruiter for Al-Qaida, is thought to have teamed up with Taliban fighters to launch a series of bombings that have rocked the country, The Daily Star reported.

The militant group to which he belongs to, the Jaish-e- Mohammed, is also thought to be involved in suicide attacks and car bombings.

The carnage is being launched from South Waziristan, widely regarded as a haven for the Taliban and Al-Qaeda militants, where Rauf is believed to be hiding.

US allowed Pak to choose own targets over drone hoopla
In a bid to calm down the hullabaloo in Islamabad over the drone attacks, the US discreetly allowed Pakistan to choose some of its own targets using the unmanned aircraft last March, a US magazine has claimed.

A report published in the New Yorker claimed that the change in US policy led to the killing of Pakistani Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud in August.

The author also claimed to have watched a live video feed relaying close-up footage of Baitullah Mehsud along with officials at the Central Intelligence Agency, Virginia.

“He could be seen reclining on the rooftop of his father-in-law’s house, in Zanghara, in South Waziristan,” The Dawn quoted Myers, as saying.

‘Pak will continue supporting Kashmir's freedom struggle’
Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer has reassured newly elected prime minister of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, Raja Farooq Haider Khan, that Pakistan will continue to support the freedom struggle of the Kashmiris.

The Daily Times quoted Taseer as saying that people of Pakistan were praying for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute so that Kashmiris could lead honourable and peaceful lives.

The Punjab governor also pointed out that there were vast opportunities in PoK, and small powerhouses could be built at natural waterfalls in the region.
