Workout schedule, Fitness regime, gymming — these are modern day creations unheard of till the last decade before which physical labour took care of a common’s man fitness.

With stress, lack of exercise, wrong eating patterns in short a bad lifestyle has forced us to keep aside time to take care our outer selves.

With aerobics and weight training dominating the workout scene till recently, people now are getting inventive to make their routines interesting. Gone are the days of donning on those XL sized track pants with your dads tee to the gym.

Fashion is the latest entrant in the fitness world!

F2F
With gym enthusiasts getting even more fashion conscious than models on the ramp, it’s time the rest of us get with it as well.

Number one on the fashion rule chart is wearing body fitted gear and not loose baggy stuff; wearing tight fitted clothes ensures you see your fat bulging which gives you motivation to run those extra five minutes or do that additional set; stick to lycra for the gym preferably as its body hugging so doesn’t get in your way.

Ladies, please stop wearing those nylon salwar kameez’ to the track; agreed you’re not comfortable in anything else, but at least for your exercise routine, make it a point to slip into track pants.

Shorts are the best workout attire especially for yoga; gives you easy mobility for body movements — just make sure to wear a long tee and tuck it in for those inverted asanas.

Not one’s for flaunting your legs? 3/4th length tracks are an option. The dancing queens; stick to knee-length skirts for the Latino footwork.

Stink management
There is nothing more turning off than a stunner in immaculate designer and when you go up to say hello, you find you can’t go anywhere within two km radius of them! Ugh bad body odour!

Stink management is essential especially at a workout place where your main purpose is to sweat. Invest in a strong, long lasting body spray, and just to be safe keep that permanently stashed in your gym bag.

Any workout place has a number of people working out together in close quarters, so kindly show your counterparts some respect and refrain from getting them claustrophobic!

Mix-n-match
Accessorise right at your workout place; and by that I don’t mean makeup and jewellry! A head band is a must to keep those tresses out of your eyes, buy a big stretchy scrunchy to tie all that hair up preferably in a bun.

Those who do serious weight training; especially the women must keep a pair of biker gloves in their bags to avoid getting blisters on the palms.

Water has to be your number one accompaniment; make sure you guzzle at least half a litre, during workout to replenish. Never wear ornaments to a dance class unless you want to injure your partner!

Expert talk
Neha Chabbria of Silhouettes talks about what to stock up on the fitness front, “Things like velour pants, zipper hoods and fleeced hoodies are dominating fitness couture.

Comfort comes first but that need not be baggies — take care to look good at the gym and trust me you’ll feel great! Racer backs or vests are ideal; carry a sweatshirt along to wear after the workout though.

Most people never take care to change their inners; keep a separate pair for your workouts. Take care that your underwear must be cotton to absorb sweat and always wear a sports bra as opposed to a regular; to avoid wear and tear to the bust especially during aerobics and jogging.”

Let fitness shake hands with fashion in this year; the fusion is potent!
