There are many precedents in our country where religious sensitivities have over-ruled the rules of minority institutions.In a century old Christian college of Kolkatha, a Hindu teacher won a case against his employers,who forbade him from entering a class room without shaving his beard.The teacher suffered a bereavement in the family and had to avoid shaving during the 'soucha' period. The religious sentiments of Sikhs are respected everywhere and they are not harassed in the matter of beard or the other four symbols of their faith.

If the rule existed before this student joined college, then he knew what he signed up for and needs to comply! Rules are rules, else there will be anarchy especially in a country like ours. Karnataka can only be over ruled by Karnataka State rules/regulations or by Union of India Rules.The only recourse to Janab Zeeshan is to approach the Law Courts in Karnataka/Indian Union.Demonstration etc by the community is not the answer.Jai Laws of the Land.
